Sharing is Not Easy

A great life skill is learning to share. One of the steps for a preschooler when there is a favourite car at the block center is to get the child who wants to have the car get the timer and say, "When the timer is done, may I have the car?" Then when another child wants the same car they can flip the timer over and say "When the timer is done..." After a few tries of this, I no longer need to monitor the sharing. All the children point to the timer and say "It's your turn now". (it frees me up to care for the rest of the class and I no longer feel guilty for missing a child's turn because I got too busy.)
