Beary Nice Chart

Description
Here's an ongoing activity that will involve your students for the duration of your theme study. First, divide a sheet of chart paper into two columns. Label the first column What Real Bears Do and the second column What Story Bears Do. Glue a picture of a realistic bear at the top of the first column and a storybook bear, such as Winnie-the-Pooh, at the top of the second column. Post the chart in a convenient location in your classroon.During your theme study, share a variety of books that present bears as real animals and as storybook charcters. As your students learn about bears, have them suggest phrases that describe real and fictional bears. Write the phrases on the chart in the appropriate columns. Continue adding new phrases as your students suggest them.
